BHPile — Lateral Pile Capacity In Your Browser.

Broms and Brinch Hansen lateral capacity for single piles, with layered soil profiles, groundwater and print-ready reports. Nothing to install — it runs entirely in your browser and is free with a KeoGeo sign-in.

BHPile web app — inputs, live pile and soil profile drawing, and capacity results

One screen: inputs on the left, the pile and soil profile drawn live in the middle, results on the right.

What It Does

A Full Lateral Pile Check, Without The Desktop Software.

BHPile analyses the ultimate lateral capacity of a single pile using the classic Broms method and the Brinch Hansen (ESAA C(b)1) formulation, side by side:

  • Layered soil profiles — cohesive and granular layers in any sequence, each with its own strength parameters and unit weights.
  • Groundwater — set the water table depth and effective stresses update automatically.
  • Load application height — model loads applied above ground line (stub columns, sign structures, jetty piles).
  • Free-head and fixed-head conditions with short and long pile failure modes checked automatically.
  • Live force visualisers — soil pressure distribution and pile force diagrams update as you type.
  • Print-to-PDF reports — a clean, referenced calculation record you can drop into an appendix.
  • Verification examples — built-in worked examples benchmarked against published solutions.

Need to run many cases? KeoGeo Pro adds a CSV batch processor to this tool — A$20/month, cancel any time.

Example Outputs

What You Get Out Of It.

Ultimate Capacity

Ultimate lateral resistance Hu for both Broms and Brinch Hansen, with the governing failure mode (short or long pile) identified.

Diagrams

Soil pressure distribution with depth, point of rotation, and maximum bending moment location — drawn to scale for your inputs.

PDF Report

A print-ready calculation report with inputs, method references, intermediate values and results — ready for a design appendix.
